Is your child eligible for Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) services? Learn how supports and services will be determined for your son/daughter’s future. Learn how you can best prepare yourself to fully participate in the planning. Come find out what you don’t know!
Advocates for Alternatives & New Jersey Developmental Disabilities Planning Institute presents an opportunity to better understand the principles of Self-Direction and demystify the Developmental Disabilities Resource Tool (DDRT), which is the phone survey used by DDD to determine an individual’s level of need. Come to one of the following sessions:

Sibshops are for kids between the ages of 8-12 years old who have a sibling with special needs. FSCNJ will host Sibshop meetings once a month on a Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each session costs $25.00 per child.

As state and local budgets for special education services shrink, parents have to advocate harder in order to simply preserve the supports that are important to their child with a disability. In this 2 hour program, disability law experts from Hinkle, Fingles and Prior will discuss the changes that have resulted from budget cuts, and describe what parents and educator/advocates need to know in order to preserve services for students who need them.

National Caregivers Conference

The 2010 conference will focus on technology and its implications for caregiving. Workshops will address recent advancements in technologies, adapting your home for a loved one with a disability, coping with the stress of caregiving and much more. The exhibit hall will feature caregiver friendly vendors and cutting edge product demonstrations.
John Crowley recently featured in the major 2010 motion picture Extraordinary Measures will serve as the keynote presenter. The movie chronicles Mr. Crowley’s journey as he becomes the CEO of a biotechnology start up in hopes of finding a new experimental treatment after his two youngest children were diagnosed with Pompe Disease. Mr. Crowley currently serves as President & CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, Inc.
