| Description |
Those who work or live with children with autism know how important language development is. Many don’t know where to begin and often home and school programs can have language goals that seem arbitrary and lacking direction. This full day intensive workshop is intended for parents and professionals who wish to implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in their home or school programs. Specifically, the operants derived from B.F. Skinners analysis of Verbal Behavior will be introduced and explored. Workshop agenda items include:
• Motivating students to learn from a behavioral standpoint
• The elementary verbal behavior operants (mands, echoics, mimetics, tacts, receptive ID, RFFC, TFFC, intraverbals) – what they are, why they matter, and how to teach them
• Discrete trial teaching (DTT) and natural environment teaching (NET): What your sessions should look like and how they should run
There will be an opportunity for questions and answers. This workshop is a must for anyone who works with a child with autism or other developmental disabilities.
